We consider it very important to improve our technologies so as to be able to always respect the environment.

The MSSA Métaux Spéciaux factory has been ISO 14001 certified since December 1998. This certificate awards us for the long tradition of responsible production.

SAVOIE where we have been for more than 100 years is one of the most beautiful regions in France. It is well known all over the world for its majestic landscape and the quality of its natural space.

Each year, during winter and summer several thousands of tourists visit the region.

The mountains of our region offer the greatest skiable domain in the World, with well known stations such as Courchevel, Val d’Isère, Méribel, La Plagne, Tigne…
Our ISO 14001 certification underlines our respect for this unique environment.

As a chemical producer, MSSA Métaux Spéciaux is deeply involved in REACH process, seeking to enhance knowledge on environmental and safety hazards.

DETAILS ON REACH PROGRAM:

What is REACH?

REACH is a European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation & restriction of Chemicals, which entered into force on June 1st 2007.

REACH applies to substances manufactured or imported into the EU in quantities of 1 tonne or more per year. Manufacturers or importers of such substances are obliged to register them with the central European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) based in Helsinki. The main aim of REACH is to improve understanding of the environmental and human health risks resulting from the production and use of chemical substances. It is now the responsibility of the manufacturers of such substances to prove that the risks surrounding such products are suitably controlled, and not the public authorities. The burden of proof is hence reversed.

REACH at MSSA
REACH regulations required that all users declaring the same substance submit their registration request together.

To accomplish this joint responsibility, companies must use the Substance Information Exchange Forum (SIEF). An agreement must be reached for a member of the SIEF or a third party to carry out the analysis on behalf of the other participants. For sodium metal, MSSA Métaux Spéciaux was appointed to be the facilitator and principal registrant of the consortium established. To date, we have already registered sodium, chlorine and bleach. The registration process for our other products is ongoing in line with the deadlines stipulated by the REACH regulation.
